Microchipping

A microchip implant is an identifying integrated circuit placed under the skin of a dog, cat, or other animal. The chips are about the size of a large grain of rice and are based on a passive RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology.

Can you imagine how awful it would be to lose your pet? The people at BackHome Microchips fully appreciate the distress you may feel if your beloved pet goes missing. That's why they have put together a proven system to ensure that we do all that we can to re-unite you with your pet.

BackHome is a microchip and an electromagnetic coil in a capsule the size of a grain of rice. Once inserted into your pet, it provides an inexpensive, permanent means of identification throughout your pet's life. The microchip is inserted into the scruff of the neck in a quick and painless manner. Each one has it's own unique identification number and once implanted, the microchip remains electronically inactive until scanned by a special microchip scanner.

The microchip responds to a low voltage electronic signal from the scanner and transmits its unique code, which is then displayed. This allows us as Vets, along with Pet Rescue Staff, Dog Wardens and the Police to then access a database to discover the identity of the pet and its owner. Microchips were introduced in 1989 and there are now over 2 million microchipped animals in the UK.

**  NEW TEMPERATURE READING MICROCHIP NOW IN STOCK! **

The new way to take your pet's temperature!

We are pleased to announce we can now supply the new Bio-Thermo Identichip!  It provides an accurate and efficient way to check your pet's temperature alongside the usual identification capability of the standard microchip.  To take the temperature reading, when the microchip is in place, all we need to do is a quick scan of your pet, making the procedure much less invasive and less stressful.  If you haven't already had your pet microchipped now is the perfect time to do so.
